Professor from the Marriott School to discuss citizenship at BYU devotional April 1

PROVO, Utah – Mar 31, 2014 – Larry Walters, a professor with the Romney Institute of Public Management, will discuss citizenship as accountability and commitment to the well-being of the whole Tuesday (April 1) at 11 a.m. in the Marriott Center at Brigham Young University.

Walters is a professor of public policy analysis and management and the Stewart Grow Professor of Public Management. He has served nearly 25 years as a member of the BYU faculty. He also has served as a visiting fellow at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy in Cambridge, Mass.

Currently serving as a member of the Utah State Tax Review Commission, he has been called on by both U.S. and international organizations to advise governments around the world regarding tax policy and urban public finance.

From 1995 to 1999 he was director of MPA programs and chair of the Romney Institute. He served as a member of the Utah State Tax Review Commission from 2009 to 2012 and as a volunteer with several professional organizations, including the International Association of Assessing Officers, the National Tax Association, and the American Society for Public Administration.
