Jonathan E. Johnson III, Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors
Jonathan Johnson is the Executive Vice Chairman of Overstock.com. Jonathan joined Overstock.com in 2002 as the Company's General Counsel and held various business and legal related positions before serving as the company’s President for five years and then becoming the Acting CEO. He has been a key part of Overstock.com’s meteoric growth from a small start-up to a publicly-traded company with $1.3 billion in sales and over 1,500 employees.
Jonathan is the Chairman of Promote Liberty PAC, a political action committee focused on protecting religious liberties and improving government at the state level.
Jonathan is also on the Board of Governors of the Salt Lake Chamber where he serves as the Chairman of the Clean Air Task Force dedicated to protecting and improving Utah’s air quality. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Utah Technology Council and is a member of the Better Business Bureau’s National Partner Leadership Circle. He is an adjunct professor at the BYU Law School.
Prior to joining Overstock.com, Jonathan was with TenFold Corporation in various positions, including CFO and General Counsel. Before that, he practiced corporate law in Los Angeles with two different international law firms. He was also a judicial clerk at the Utah Supreme Court.
Jonathan received a bachelor's degree in Japanese from Brigham Young University, studied at Osaka University of Foreign Studies in Japan as a Ministry of Education Scholar, and received his law degree from the BYU Law School where he is now an adjunct faculty member.
Jonathan lives in Holladay, Utah with his wife of 25 years. He has five sons, ages 21 to 10.
