Healthcare Industry Scholar is an interactive learning experience designed for graduate students planning a career in the healthcare industry.
Healthcare Industry Scholar are selected from all graduate programs in the Marriott School of Business including the MBA, MAcc, MISM, and MPA. The experience complements the skills of your chosen discipline with healthcare management exposure and application of functional skills to various healthcare settings. During the first year of graduate school, potential Healthcare Industry Scholar must take MPA 590 Healthcare Management to learn more about the healthcare industry and gain exposure to healthcare professionals. Potential scholars are expected to complete a healthcare-related internship during the summer following the first year of classes.
During the following summer, applications will be accepted and scholars will be selected. Scholars must complete two qualifying electives and a healthcare lecture series class. Both the lecture series and at least one of the qualifying electives must be taken in the second year of graduate studies. It is expected that scholars will participate in the Healthcare Management Association during both years of classes as well. At least one of the qualifying electives must be taken in the second year of graduate studies. The lecture series may be taken either during the first or second year, though it is recommended students take it both years. It is expected that scholars will participate in the Healthcare Management Association during the winter of their first year through graduation.
Scholarship funding may be awarded to scholars.
