Underclassman Academy

Sponsored in conjunction with the finance department, the Finance Society’s Underclassmen Academy is a six-week program aimed at freshmen and sophomores interested in finance careers.

Why Participate?

About 180 students participate in the academy each winter semester. The program begins with a general session about careers in finance and then splits into different sections focusing on fields such as investment banking, corporate finance, and markets. Classes are held weekly and are taught by finance juniors who have found success after going through the academy.

The academy’s primary objectives are to:

  • Introduce students to various finance career options
  • Offer insights on how to succeed in the finance program
  • Network with finance students, faculty, and professionals
  • Develop key job-acquisition skills

A top internship can jump-start a career, and the Underclassmen Academy is putting students on track to land the jobs they want. By providing training and experiences in networking, interviewing, and writing résumés, the academy is helping students prepare for their careers.
