Admission Criteria

Preparing to Apply

Competition to get into the accounting program is high. Historically, between 85-100 percent of applicants are admitted.

In order to have a strong application, we recommend taking the following steps:

  • Earn good grades in your prerequisite courses (ACC 200, ACC 310, IS 201). The minimum prerequisite GPA to apply is 3.0, but the prerequisite GPA of admitted students in 2022 was between 3.00 and 4.00. Note: prerequisite GPA and overall BYU GPA are both considered.
  • Substantially complete GE courses.

Students may apply as soon as they have completed the prerequisite courses. Students will begin their junior core courses in the fall semester of their junior year.

The application is due on the last business day of June at 4:30 p.m. All prerequisites must be completed in order to apply.
