Marriott School Claims Seven CASE District VII Awards

Communications awards include a Grand Gold, three Golds, two Silvers and a Bronze

PROVO, Utah – Apr 13, 2015 – The Marriott School of Management took home seven Awards of Excellence from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District VII for its high quality work in marketing, publications and public relations.

“Winning a CASE award, especially the Grand Gold award, is an extraordinary accomplishment,” says Lee Perry, Marriott School dean. “The work done by our external relations team that led to these awards inspired Marriott School students, faculty, administrators and staff with the spirit to serve in addition to elevating BYU as a whole.”

Experts from all disciplines judged 470 submissions in more than 70 categories to select this year’s winners. CASE District VII represents professionals and institutions in the western United States, including Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah in addition to Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

The Marriott 25 campaign, which encouraged members of the Marriott School community to donate 25,000 hours of service in recognition of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the school's naming, was part of four awards. Held during the 2013-14 school year, Marriott 25 garnered a Grand Gold in the marketing category. Presented for the first time in District VII, Grand Gold awards were given to one exemplary submission within a specific category that was deemed especially noteworthy.

Marriott 25 also collected a Gold award for year-long special events, a Gold award for best practices in communications and marketing and a Silver award for specialty pieces for the plexiglass “M” that was installed in the Tanner Building atrium.

Other honors awarded to the Marriott School included a Gold award for excellence in periodical design for Marriott Alumni Magazine, a Silver award for specialty piece design for the deans’ Christmas card and a Bronze award for the International Executive of the Year banquet program.

“It’s gratifying to have our work recognized alongside other great institutions like Stanford, UC Berkeley and USC,” says Robert Gardner, assistant dean of external relations and technology. “CASE provides a wonderful forum for sharing best practices and drawing inspiration.”

CASE supports alumni relations, communications, development and marketing professionals at educational institutions worldwide. The association provides networking, recognition and continuing education for more than 64,000 advancement professionals at more than 3,400 colleges, universities and independent elementary and secondary schools in more than 70 countries.

The Marriott School is located at Brigham Young University, the largest privately owned, church-sponsored university in the United States. The school has nationally recognized programs in accounting, business management, entrepreneurship, finance, information systems and public management. The school’s mission is to prepare men and women of faith, character and professional ability for positions of leadership throughout the world.
